If you are unable to easily commute, or would rather learn in the comfort of your own home, this is the option for you!
The standard 40$/1hr applies, as well as 1$/1min for my commute one-way. (e.g.; 10m commute = 10$ on top of 40$ rate)
About
My name is Spencer Bevan, and I have been a musician for over 15 years. I worked as a mechanic for most of my adult life and taught music on the side, and now am taking the leap to do it full time. I am so excited to share my passion and experience with you.
I took lessons for the first few years of my musical journey, but have been self-taught for the last 10 or so years. It has always amazed me at how much depth there is to music knowledge and technique. I could study and practice for multiple lifetimes and always have more to learn. It’s this wonder and motivation that I want to share with you, and help you become a more well rounded musician than you thought possible.
I teach beginner to intermediate bass and guitar, as well as beginner drums and ukulele. My teaching method focuses on the more practical aspects of music theory to help you communicate and collaborate with other musicians, as well as better understand your instrument. This includes topics such as: identifying key centres, modes, chords, and intervals, understanding different time signatures and beat subdivisions, fretboard visualization, improvisation, and so much more. I also like to use learning songs as an opportunity to point out any of these concepts in real examples to help ground the theory in reality. I try to put an equal emphasis on playing technique with topics such as proper hand/finger articulation, posture, different playing techniques, etc.
